Winter dates can be some of the best and the most fun! Some people love the warm weather of spring and summer, but there’s something about winter that is super romantic.

It can be hard to come up with fun and unique date ideas during winter. But there are actually tons of things to do for a winter date night.

1- Board game night

No, board games aren’t just for kids. There are so many great board games out there for adults. They are so many fun and can really be an ice breaker if you are on one of the first dates.

2- Cooking together

The two of you can find a recipe and try and make it together. It’s actually a lot of fun cooking with your significant other! Once the meal is made you have a perfect dinner date night at home. My favorites are pasta night and pizza night. See who can make the best pizzas! Who doesn’t love a little competition even if it has to do with food!

If you don’t want to cook dinner, baking cookies or another dessert is fun too.

3- Movie night

Both of you pick out a few movies and get all cozy together. You can set up blankets, pillows and pop some popcorn for a fun movie date. Honestly, there’s nothing better than a cozy winter date cuddling up in blankets watching movies.

4- Take out night

Both of you pick out your most favorite take out meal. Compare and see who’s favorite was better. Or you can both order takeout from the most random places either of you have never ordered from and see who picked the better place.

5- Go through old photos

I am a super nostalgic person so I love this idea! Have you and your significant other pull out the old photos from your childhood and go through them. It’s a fun way to get to know each others past while sharing fun memories.

6- Play video games

If neither of you have the Nintendo Switch it is the BEST gaming device especially for a fun stay at home date night! My favorite game is Mario Kart. Play against each other and see who comes out victorious.

7- Karaoke

Karaoke is so fun. Plus with a little alcohol added in, you will both be laughing your asses off the entire time.

8- Fondue night

Set up a cheese or chocolate fondue with all the fun snacks to dip in. OMG YUM!

9- Spa night

Buy some face masks, lotions, scrubs, matching robes, set up your essential oil diffuser and light some candles and you have a DIY spa at home! Give each other massages for a super romantic date night.

10- Art night

Get some paint and canvases and have a fun art night! Or get some clay and create some pottery together!

11- Gingerbread decorating

Buy two gingerbread house kits and make your best gingerbread houses. Have a little fun competition and see who’s turns out the best.

12- Wine or beer taste testing

Buy a few different types of wine or beer that you haven’t had before and test them all out. See which ones are your favorite. Who knows, you might find your new favorite one!

Outdoor winter date ideas

1- Ice skating

Ice skating to me is so much fun. I also think it’s so romantic and I imagine myself in a Hallmark Christmas movie LOL. Find your local ice skating rink (the outdoor ones are so much better!) and it’s the perfect date! If you’re not the best at skating, it’s still fun date idea. A lot of rinks have really cute lounge areas, food trucks, etc. set up so there’s usually much more to do in the area.

2- Go on a hike or nature walk

Not all winter days are below freezing! If it’s cold bundle up and find a nice nature walk outdoors. Outdoors in the winter is my favorite! It can be so peaceful and there are no pesty bugs.

3- Take a road trip

Wake up extra early and drive out maybe 2-3 hours away from home to a town you’ve never been before. It’s so much fun exploring areas are new. Pack a few snacks and create a fun playlist for the road. You’ll have a great time on your destination.

4- Have a bonfire

This is one of my favorite things to do during the winter! It’s so fun to start a fire. It’s a super cozy date where you can make some s’mores.

5- Christmas lights

Go drive around town and look at the best houses decorated with Christmas lights. Or you can find a local Christmas light show.

6- Christmas market

Find your local Christmas market and spend the day/ night there! Usually a Christmas market is a bunch of small businesses that have tents set up for their products. A lot of food trucks are set up as well. It’s so important to support small and local businesses.

7- Skiing / tubing

If you live near some mountains it’s the most perfect time of year to hit the slopes! Skiing is so much fun!

8- Sledding/ play in the snow

Maybe you don’t live near mountains, but it still snows near you, sledding is a super fun date idea. Let your inner child shine through! Buy a sled and find the steepest hill near you for some fun. Or you can just go out your backdoor and play in the snow! Start a snowball fight, build an igloo, and build a snowman. Have some hot chocolate ready to go inside when you’re done.
