This post is about easy ways to save money in your 20s.
1- Stop going out to eat/ takeout
If you’re anything like me, you love going out to dinner or spending a Friday night on the couch with tons of sushi. You honestly don’t realize how much money goes into takeout and going out to eat. Forbes says that it is almost five times more expensive to order delivery from a restaurant than cooking at home.
This is one of the easiest ways to save money in your 20s. The amount of money you can save by purchasing and cooking at home is crazy! Instead of spending $30 on a fancy Italian pasta dish, you can spend $15 and make your own pasta at home (with leftovers to make more!).
What I like to do is find recipes of my favorite restaurant dishes and try and make at home!
2- Cancel Subscriptions
I am guilty for being on tons of different subscription based plans that automatically took money out of my account every month. Most of these subscriptions I didn’t even use!
Go through all the different subscriptions you pay for and analyze if they are really worth it for you. You will realize how much money you can save by canceling out things you forgot you were even paying for.
3- Become a DIYer (Do it yourself)
You can save so much money by doing things yourself. If you’re someone who is always getting their nails done every 2 weeks, you might not realizing how much money that is costing. Instead get your own gel nail get from Amazon and do your nails at home. The amount of money you’ll save will be so worth it!
Other things can apply to this as well! Figure out things that you are spending money on every month and see if you can do it on your own instead of paying someone else to do it.
4- Get paid to shop
Every girls dream is to get paid to shop right? Well with Rakuten, every purchase you make you get a percentage of cash back.
Sign up on Rakuten’s website, and every time you shop online that is affiliated with Rakuten, you will get cash back. It’s that easy! Plus, when you refer friends you get paid by them signing up and using too!
5- Pay yourself first
Put your savings as your first priority when it comes to your paychecks. Set up your account so that every time you get paid, a percentage that you choose automatically gets put into a savings account.
When that money is on autopilot, you don’t even realize it’s not there. The money is out of your checking account before you even get a chance to spend it! It’s such an easy way to put money away without having to do anything each paycheck.
6- Careful with credit cards
There are so many benefits when it comes to credit cards like the rewards perks and building your credit history. But, credit cards can also be super dangeous. So many people easily get into thousands of dollars in debt.
It’s important to use your credit card wisely. The best method to avoid credit card debt is to pay off the entire balance each money. Never go into the next month with a balance left on the card.
You obviously save money by spending less. So when you go out shopping, have a budget of what you want to spend and use cash instead. That way you only have a certain amount you can spend and you won’t go over your limits.
7- Second hand shopping
We all love getting a brand new outfit. But it can add up. There are so many great ways to purchase second hand clothes that are just like new. Not to mention half the cost.
If you haven’t heard of Poshmark or Depop, I highly suggest to look into these websites. You can purchase hundreds of designer brands for much cheaper. These clothes are second hand, but sometimes you can find pieces that have never been worn before.
Shopping second hand will save you so much money!
