Glow up your appearance
First let’s focus on how to glow up your appearance.
Start a consistent skincare routine
Taking care of your skin is so important. Having acne is the worst, trust me I’ve been there. There is really no better feeling than having clear skin. It is the best confidence booster. Find a great skincare regimen that fits your skins needs.
Skincare treatments depend on what type you have whether it is oily, combination or dry. If you are stressed, eating unhealthy processed food, or not getting enough sleep, this can all wreak havoc on your skin. Eliminating these issues along with a proper, consistent skincare routine will make all the difference.
My tips for glowing skin:
Double cleanse your skin at night. I do not wash my face in the morning because I feel like it strips the natural oils.
Moisturize after cleansing twice a day, morning and night.
Wear sunscreen every single day, even when it’s cloudy, even when it’s wintertime! This is so important!
Face mask once a week
Exfoliate once a week
Don’t pick, don’t pop!
Use a silk pillowcase
If all else fails, I highly suggest seeing a dermatologist. My doctor saved my skin! They know exactly what to do and what will help.
Wear clothes that fit your body and that you feel confident in
If you look good you feel good! Buy clothes that fit your body type. Don’t wear anything that you don’t feel 100% confident in. People can sense when you are feeling great about yourself and your confidence shines through physically.
Try experimenting with different types of clothing. Fashion trends are always changing and there are so many new fun styles out all the time. Dressing in clothes that you love, fit your body, and make you feel confident in is the best and fastest way to start your glow up.
My tips for a fashion glow up:
Buy basic pieces you love such as: basic white and black tee, a few pairs of jeans, and a pair of sneakers.
Don’t buy something just because it’s in style- buy it because you love it!
Get a new hair style
There’s no better glow up then a complete hair makeover! If you always wanted to dye your hair, or go super short then do it! This glow up is all about you and what you want. If you are not sure what you want to do with your hair, ask your hair stylist what they think and what would fit best with your face shape.
Incorporate lymphatic massages
There are tons of benefits that come with getting lymphatic massages. These massages move lymph fluid and toxins out of the body. These massages can help move localize fat in the body, improve circulation, boost your immune system, and improve your health overall.
Glow up your body
Here is how to glow up physically.
Drink more water
Seriously do it. Drink a ton of water every single day. And just wait until you notice how much better you feel.
Lack of water intake can cause someone to look and feel tired.
I drink about a gallon of water every single day and it has changed the game for me! The benefits include everything from digestion, flushes out toxins, improves skin, and helps your mood. Only con- more bathroom breaks.
The best way to stick with it is to get yourself a motivational water bottle. This is the exact one I have. The timed guidelines keep you in check throughout the day.
Exercise regularly
Ugh- I envy the ones who genuinely enjoy working out. I wish that was me.
As much as I don’t like it I know how important it is for my body and my mind to work out at least 3-5 times a week.
If you don’t know where to start, there are so many incredible women on YouTube who are fitness inspos ready to help you. They’ll show you everything you need to know to glow up that bod!
The best glow up is the one where you feel confident in the body you’re in.
Eat a healthy and balanced diet
This girl loves her burgers, pasta, and pizza. But it’s all about moderation. We want to focus on a healthy and balanced diet. Food completely affects how you feel and how you look. I know that when I eat like crap I feel like crap. When I eat healthy I feel so much better. My mind is clear, my skin is clear and my stomach isn’t gurgling.
My tips for diet change:
Incorporate more vegetables
Less carbs, less sugar and less sodium
Find healthy alternatives to your favorite meals
Treat yourself once a week
Get more sleep
Lack of sleep affects your mood, your mental clarity, and even your appearance. When you do not get enough sleep your skin can look dull and tired, and don’t forget about the dreaded dark circles under your eyes. Lack of sleep can also eventually lead to under-eye bags, fine lines, and wrinkles.
Try and get as many hours of sleep that you possibly can. Go to bed a few hours earlier. Don’t look at your phone for hours in bed. The blue light will not help you fall asleep.

Glow up your mind
Life, work, school, relationships, social media, the news, and so much more can have such a negative impact on our mental health.
Doing things to keep your mindset in a positive outlook is incredibly important. Mental health should always be a number one priority in your life. Here is how to glow up your mind.
Focus on the positive
Sometimes it is hard to not think about all the negative things going on in the world. But having a positive mindset is so beneficial.
When you’re faced with an issue instead of thinking about all the things that can go wrong, think of all the things that could go right.
Remove toxic people from your life
At some point in our lives, we all have those people who are negative downers who do not make us feel our best. This is not what we need in our lives. We want the people we surround ourselves with to be positive, helpful, and encouraging. To glow up your life, let’s remove the negativity and that is including people!
Read
I think reading is great for a mental glow up. I love to read personal development books. I’m learning ways to make myself a better person. And that’s exactly what a glow up is all about.
Reading helps reduce anxiety and calm your mind and thoughts. It’s also a nice way to escape all the crazy in the word and to detach from social media.
Here are some great personal development/ self help books!
Embrace and enjoy change
Change is scary sometimes and not the most comfortable thing to experience. But change is so necessary. It gets us out of our comfort zone and for the most part will always benefit us in the long wrong. In order to grow in life we have to experience change and embrace it.
Meditate
Meditation has been used for centuries to glow up your mind. It helps clear your mind and find your inner peace. Start your day off with meditation and notice how more productive and positive you feel throughout the day.
Look on YouTube for helpful ways to meditate.
Prioritizing yourself
In this crazy day and age with life, jobs, families, it is hard to find time for ourselves. But this is so incredibly important. We all need time for ourselves and to do things we love, things we want to do, or simply something to do alone. I like to take time for myself by going on a long walk alone. It helps clear my head and makes me feel so much better mentally and physically!
Start a journal
Journaling is super beneficial for your mind. Physically write out your thoughts, feelings, and dreams. Doing so, helps manifest what your dreaming of, helps you sort out your feelings, and you’re able to look back on your thoughts and analyze how you can change them into something more positive. I do think taking care of your mental is a top priority for how to glow up.

Love these ideas and how “full circle” they are in terms of addressing all aspects of wellbeing! Definitely using a few ideas 🙂
Great tips! This year, I want to glow up. It’s a long process but after it, I will be more happy with myself. So thank you and I took some notes 🙂
These were really great tips! This year is the year of the glow up!
I love these ideas, since every time I hear the world glow up, my mind goes to physical appearance, never thought about it this way!
I loved reading this! Although I am quite familiar with the body/mind/soul work (having a self love blog myself too :-)) I have not yet come across the term ‘glow up’, especially not regarding our mind or soul. But I feel it is actually spot on – as we can only radiate outside if that’s how we feel on the inside, too. Reading daily is so important for me to feel good. Making a mental note to read even a bit more per day from now on. Thank you for the mindful reminder <3 Love, Susanne
